Okay, I've found some time between the Bio and ... the other Bio.
So to make a long story long: I had decided to ask and was trying to think [with the aid of Melissa and Lilac] of ways to ask starting sometime around this weekend. Unsuccessful ideas included:
- Holding up a transparency in a movie theater.
- Hiding a note in a Unicef box. Oh man.
- Hiding a laminated [?] note in a cupcake/food.
- Jumping out of a cupcake/food.
- Man were we desperate.
Tuesday night, on the way back from my piano lesson, Lily calls me with the idea from John. I wasn't too excited about it at the time because I didn't know if it was possible/realistic. I apparently didn't have any confidence in my abilities. I still don't. After an hour of collaboration, I set out to make up lyrics and learn the song. Took a while, but I got it mostly down. Fastforward to Wednesday morning. Flower fiasco posed some setbacks, but thanks to my parents, it was taken care of. Just when I thought I had everything under control, Emily walked into Lit with her fellow leadership folk. Luckily, Lily signaled with various hand motions and what seemed like those baseball gesticulations to cover up the flowers. Using my backpack and sweatshirt, I covered it up pretty well, but was still nervous about it, since she came up to Serena's desk to see what we were doing!! That was perhaps the most nervewracking part of the day. I left about five minutes early from Lit to go to the Lecture Hall for some last minute practicing. You guys know the story from there.
And now I can't stop playing the song.
