I have recently discovered through my readings of A Short History ... that the name mastodon was coined by a Frenchman whose opinion of America's natural history was rather low. And since the mastodon was originally discovered in America, he so named the creature mastodon, which literally means "nipple tooth." Now, if you're thinking what I'm thinking, then you must be thinking about the Black Power Ranger yelling out "Nipple Tooth!" during morphing time. What's happening to the youth of today? =(
