MOST OF THE people in Alondra have already left. However, the cool thing to do is to stay until the very last day. Thus being the case, I just finished watching My Sassy Girl with the coolest of the Alondrans. All except for Arjun and Abel thoroughly enjoyed it. [Yes, there's a guy here named Arjun] My Sassy Girl is a great movie. To speak ill of it is nothing less than heresy. But after watching it, I am in need of something to keep me occupied. So the internal dialogue that I have with myself goes something like this:
Gordon: Hey, Gordon.
Gordon: Hey, what's up.
Gordon: Not much. That's the problem.
Gordon: Oh? What do you mean?
Gordon: Well, I'm bored. Let's find something to do.
Gordon: Yeah! *Stephen Chow pose*
Gordon: So what do you suggest?
Gordon: Well, how about posting the pictures from Friday.
Gordon: Awesome idea. You're a genius.
Gordon: No, it's all you. Really.
Fifteen milliseconds before this picture was taken, the room was completely dark save the glow of the computer screen. Nikki was sleeping, and I think I woke her up. Whoops. 0:-)
On Friday, immediately after my horrendous performance on my Chinese final, I ventured to Half Moon Bay with my very good friends, Gloria and Melissa. [Yes, another Melissa. Don't worry, mCAT, you're still special] It was quite a trip, about an hour and a half to two hours to get there, but it was worth it! Lots of fun. Lots of sand. Lots of water.
People are getting out their digicams. I, being the human blur, was the first to snap this picture, the first picture of the day! I should get first prize. Unfortunately, my battery started to die shortly after we arrived at the beach, leaving me no option but to resort to sporadic picture-taking methods.
We saw people riding horses on the beach. It looked really fun. It was definitely a cool concept, but the image of me riding on a horse at the beach is too unrealistic to pass.
The girls again. Um...? Not sure exactly what we're doing, other than standing around of course. The horseman is still there in the background, though! It's nice to see that he stuck around for the picture and that he still has his head.
These waves were magnificent. As is the case with most waves, they were unpredictable! Gloria and Melissa went to go test the water...
And the waves overpowered them! They both fell ... I was too busy avoiding the water myself to get a picture, but this is them afterwards. Melissa was subsequently cold for the rest of the day. I felt somewhat bad for her. Gloria was really prepared though--she brought extra clothes and a towel, which came in handy.
The day is winding down; we're all tired from building an awesome sandcastle-representation of Stanford. [not shown, because my batteries were temporarily depleted (though they somehow manage to generate enough energy for this pic) but i'll try to get a copy of it from Gloria] So we just sit ourselves down on the towel-covered sand and enjoy the view. [Although, I do occasionally attempt cartwheels, handstands, and the ever-so-difficult butterfly kick.]
Isn't it magnificent? This is the wallpaper on my computer as of Friday night. I wanted to push the PrtScr button and paste the image from my eyes onto Adobe Photoshop. But this works just as well.
Went to dinner at Miyake in celebration of our completion of winter quarter. Every so often, they would turn down the lights and turn on the disco lights for the sake-drinking people who were celebrating a birthday. I tried to capture it, but ehh... can't really see.
We bike back. It's been a long day. The cold of the night is bearable, though, because I bear in mind the complete lack of heat in my house, or rather, in Fresno. So that's my story. I hope you liked it. By the way, on our way back from the beach to the CalTrain, we had a very hard time finding the bus stop. And, apparently, nobody in Hillsdale actually lives in Hillsdale, because everyone we asked for bus stop information "wasn't from around here." Finally, we found a Lebanese shoe repair shop owner who generously gave us a ride back to the CalTrain in his car. The trip was a very awkward, and at times silent one. But hey, we made it back alive, and that's what counts.
