The word "now" is the trickiest little devil there is. Once you think you have a grasp on it, it's gone. I guess that's why they have words like ephemeral and evanescent. Yup, it actually means something. It's not just the name of some cool rock band with a female lead singer.
Lately I've been thinking about random things, [e.g. why none of us are curious about the inside of those circular clothing racks anymore, like we were when we were kids] and I guess I've been wanting to share these thoughts with someone. But not just anyone! Someone who has the same kind of thoughts. And then we can be hilarious 24/7 like people are on TV, only we won't have to keep straight faces. That's right, we can acknowledge our hilarity.
OKAY, HERE is the real kicker. I had this thought last week and almost forgot about it. So here's the thing: I read somewhere that the average person eats eight spiders in their sleep during the course of their entire lifetime. I wasn't sure if it was true, but Dan the Man [one of my roommates for next year] confirmed it, so it must be. Then, much to Mr. Garabedian's delight, I thought like a biologist, but only for a few seconds. Speaking from an evolutionary standpoint, how did these spiders survive? What kind of creature can survive for years if they crawl into people's mouths and get devoured of their own free will? Wouldn't natural selection have weeded these suckers out way back by the Neolithic Age or Cretaceous or Metaphase? Honestly! Someone explain that one.
Why do we miss people? Why do I miss people? Usually when someone goes away, I usually think about them less. Now -- I've never thought about her more.
