The Year 2005
12:14 Saturday, December 31
It's that time again. Time to look back on the past 365 days and say, "This is what happened."
This is what happened in the year of 2005:
- The azn posse celebrates New Year's at my house. [that's right, you don't remember?]
- Jessica Lin and I make a bet that I can't go a day without being mean. I win. She sends me a crushgram. I send her one too to be nice. Thing is, we saw each other at the table for crushgrams.
- I explore the abandoned chem building with Derek Gaw, RA, and Brandon Burr, CS 106a TA. We encounter a creature.
- Screw Your Roommate Date #1: Emi Manuia.
- Screw Your Roommate Date #2: Nancy Nguyen. Man is that weird, considering the present circumstances!
- My Oh Wow! wristband breaks off. I shed a tear.
- I discover information that leads me to my first true secret.
- I watch Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. It is sensational.
- Suzanne yells at me for misinterpreting Arendt's perspective of Eichmann. How was I to know? I didn't read it all.
- I wake up slightly late for my CS 106b final. Not to worry, it turns out okay.
- I make the residence staff appreciation video. It was fun but stressful.
- I pick up the guitar. Who knew it would be the beginning of a wonderful relationship?
- My grandmother passes away. I fully grasp the fact that time with loved ones is ephemeral. Sic transit gloria mundis.
- I travel to Hawaii for eleven days and learn that I don't really enjoy cruises that much.
- I move into Kimball 229!
- I meet my new sib family members: Connie, Vivian, and Richard! We are the best sib family ever.
- Fleet Street gets tired of me auditioning and accepts me out of frustration.
- An situation with a friend makes me awkward.
- Roommates and I have a Naruto problem.
- Roommates and I have a Super Smash Bros problem.
- Fleet Street / Talisman Winter Show oversells. It was a phenomenal disaster. But phenomenal, nonetheless.
- David falls head over heels for the waitress at Ryowa with glitter on her eyes.
In retrospect, I'm just as satisfied with 2004 as I am with 2005. I've made my share of mistakes, but who would I be if I hadn't? Mistakes make me who I am just as much as the things I do right. I'm looking forward to see what 2006 holds in store for me. The next time we speak, you'll be writing your checks differently. Until then, HAPPY NEW YEARS [eve]!
