Borrowing from my education of sleep, my view on the state of the world could be best described as an opponent process model. Some of me wants to believe that the good in the world can measure against the bad. But these days, my faith in our fellow homo sapiens is dying a slow and painful death. There is good in the world--of that I am certain. But while strong in numbers, it is small, young, and naive. A sea of ants can do only so much against a larger, more determined and sinister beast.
And it's not just the evil in the world, but the misguided. The social systems which we live in are so deeply ingrained that people are content with the status quo. Ours is a society that rewards those with the deepest pockets. Somewhere along the way, everything became about politics and money instead of doing what's right.
The world is a fine place and worth fighting for. -Hemingway
